I’m

at the moment, so a trip down to the local Tire Rack Distribution Center was in order. Except around midnight last night it started to dump snow on Denver. I had already taken the day off of work, so I turned the key in my Mazda 323 GTX and backed out of the garage.
My cul-de-sac doesn’t get plowed, so I had to reverse my way back through the snow a bit. Once I got the nose oriented, this little AWD hatchback drove around stuck cars and through very deep snow to pick up a new set of tires for her roadster sister. The going was slow due to the horrendous visibility, but otherwise no issues whatsoever!
That is, until I got back to my house and its unplowed, stepped, inclined driveway. The snow was just too deep and I had to shovel the driveway. I wonder if it would have mounted the curb onto the driveway had I locked the center diff? Oh well, I needed some exercise anyway.
Just wanted to share that I really love using an old Group A rally homologation car to navigate the snowy winters (and spring!).

That’s a lot of snow on that tiny hatch.

Today was the only day I could take off of work this week to swing by! I was wanting to drop the tires off to get mounted today, but that can wait until tomorrow.

I was pretty surprised at just how much snow was dumped on us. I wasn’t expecting it to be this much.

I’m in Denver too. I really need to raise my Outback back up. Lowered it by accident with WRX struts. Are you running snow tires?

GTX: AWD, turbo, snow tires
Miata: RWD, NA, summer tires
It’s a happy little specialized Mazda family.
